Organization: Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation
Date: April 3, 2009
Dan Goetz Appointed as New Director of SCV Facilities Foundation
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA (April 3, 2009) — Dan Goetz, president and chief executive officer of Valencia-based UltraViolet Devices, Inc. (UVDI), was recently appointed to the Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation Board of Directors. He will serve the remaining term of John Hassel, a founding board member who passed away in December 2008.
"Dan brings a strong background in strategic planning and a well-regarded passion for education to the table," said Gary Condie, Foundation vice president. Goetz has served as past chairman of the Santa Clarita Valley School and Business Alliance, and the Valley Industrial Association. He was recently appointed president of the VIA Foundation, and also serves on the College of the Canyons Foundation Board of Directors. Goetz is a Castaic area resident and has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1992.
"I have watched the good work of the Foundation over the years as they brought a school site to fulfillment," said Goetz, referring to the opening of Golden Valley High School. "I was intrigued by their mission and excited at the opportunity to serve. I look forward to helping bring that same level of success to the long awaited Castaic High School."
The non-profit public benefit corporation recently celebrated its tenth year (1998-2008). It was founded to provide financial assistance to the William S. Hart Union High School District in locating, acquiring, and developing new school sites. The Foundation is currently working alongside the Hart District Governing Board planning for new schools in Castaic and Canyon Country.
Goetz joins Richard A. Patterson, president, Gary Condie, vice president, Marc Emmer, Kris Hough, Jaime Castellanos and Steve Sturgeon on the Foundation’s seven-member Board of Directors. Directors serve on a volunteer basis, without pay or compensation for services. Five positions held by community members are staggered as four-year terms, one seat is held by the District Superintendent or his designee, and one seat reserved for the Hart District Board President.
In other business, Marc Emmer was appointed Secretary/Treasurer of the organization in the election of officers. This position was previously held by Mr. Hassel.
