It's "All About You Babe" at the 2009 SCV Healthy Baby Expo
Valencia, CA (February 27, 2009) — Babies will take center stage this year at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital's 2009 SCV Healthy Baby Expo, set to take place Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the hospital campus.
"Everything we do as parents in terms of planning to have a child, during our pregnancy and following the birth of a child is all for the sake of our baby's health," said Sally McGann, director of Women's Services at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. "It's only fitting that they take center stage this year and we focus on their health and future growth and development."
Through a series of 60 interactive educational booths, the SCV Healthy Baby Expo is a health fair focusing on prenatal and postpartum mothers, fathers and babies, including information on how to have a better pregnancy and birthing experience and a healthier baby.
"Our goal is to get parents thinking about the healthy options and healthy lifestyle choices as they discuss their plans to start a family," said McGann. "We want them to have as much information as possible about having a baby before they conceive."
In addition to learning about and meeting local physicians on the medical staff at Henry Mayo, expectant parents will have the opportunity to be educated on several pregnancy-related health topics and learn about what to expect when delivering at Henry Mayo.
Postpartum moms and dads can learn more about breastfeeding, how to soothe a baby, postpartum physical therapy, exercise and how to properly install a child safety seat.
The free community event, which includes a number of activities for the entire family, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Pavilion parking area at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, 23845 McBean Parkway, Valencia.
