Boys & Girls Club Introduces Workplace Giving Program
Santa Clarita, Calif. — The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley will launch a workplace giving program at the B2B Industry Show presented by VIA (Valley Industrial Association) of Santa Clarita on June 11, 2009.
"As businesses and as individuals, one of the most important investments we can make is in our youth.  Even a small amount of money can make a big difference in someone's life.  This can be done through our Campaign for Kids workplace giving program," Jim Ventress, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, explained.
Employees and businesses can visit the Club's booth at the Business to Business Show — held at 26081 Avenue Hall — on June 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley offers a wide variety of programs to engage kids, ages 7 to 17, in healthy activities that promote good values, creativity, fitness, leadership, education and community involvement. Trained and dedicated staff members supervise the kids and help provide opportunities for them to learn, explore, contribute and grow in a safe and positive environment.  Membership at the Club is only $36/year.
All proceeds from the giving program will stay in Santa Clarita to benefit local youth at the Club, which offers three locations in Canyon Country, Newhall and Val Verde.
Ventress said, "Many Santa Clarita employees already have children that have attended or currently attend the Boys & Girls Club. Donating to this program is easy — and is another way for them to contribute to our community's kids. In addition, if your employer offers a matching gift program, your dollars can have an even greater impact on the youth."
Each pay period, a portion of the employee's check, in any amount that is designated, is automatically deducted and sent to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley.  Ventress said that giving through payroll deduction also reduces administrative overhead so that every dollar donated is maximized.
For more information about workplace giving, matched contributions, or starting a Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Campaign for Kids at your place of business, please contact Jim Ventress, chief professional officer, at 661-254-2582 or by e-mail at jimv@scvbgc.org.

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, an organization with more than 4,000 clubs nationwide. The local Club was formed in 1968 by a group of community leaders who recognized the need for high-quality programs and facilities at affordable costs for area young people. The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley now serves more than 3,500 youth. Programs engage members in education and career exploration, the arts, sports, recreation and fitness, character and leadership development, and healthy life choices.
