City Invites Local Lobbyists to Register for 2009 Calendar Year
    The City of Santa Clarita invites all lobbyists working in the City of Santa Clarita to register for the 2009 calendar year on or before January 31, 2009.
    The purpose of requiring lobbyist registration is to maintain a fair and open decision making processes within City government and inform the public of lobbying activities that may affect legislative and administrative action.
    Santa Clarita requires that all lobbyists register or re-register on an annual basis, and continue to amend their registration information as needed.
    Registration must be renewed every calendar year and all who register are required to pay a one-time fee of $120 for the 2009 calendar year. Any changes to registration information may be made for a $25 fee for each amendment.
    The City began requiring lobbyist registration when The City Council adopted Ordinance No. 07-11 on December 11, 2007, which added Chapter 7.03 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code regulating lobbying activities. The provisions of this ordinance became effective on January 10, 2008 and remain in effect for 2009.
