Grammy Winner Doug Cotler to Perform November 9
SANTA CLARITA, CA — Congregation Beth Shalom of the Santa Clarita Valley is proud to present Grammy Award-winning contemporary Jewish singer, songwriter and composer Doug Cotler in the first of its Distinguished Performance Series concerts on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at 3 p.m. Doug Cotler has recorded six original Jewish music albums, with his 1984 Grammy being awarded for writing "Manhunt," a powerful song featured in the smash album and movie, Flashdance. He also has two songbooks containing songs from four of his recordings.
No one fuses traditional Jewish melodies with the power and rhythm of modern popular music like Doug Cotler. He performs more than 100 concerts each year — and we're lucky enough to have him in Santa Clarita! Blessed with a warm and expressive voice, Doug's sensitive and penetrating interpretations of liturgy, as well as insightful and humorous songs about Jewish events and heroes have placed him in the forefront of contemporary Jewish music.
This Distinguished Performance Series "sing-a-long" — a fun fundraiser which benefits the CBS Early Childhood Education Center, Religious School and synagogue — offers an exciting opportunity to foster a love of Jewish music in our children. Canter Beth Wasserman Rosenfeld and the teachers at CBS have been practicing Cotler's songs in their classes in preparation for joining Doug on stage during his Santa Clarita performance.

Advance purchase general seating ticket prices are: $25.00 per adult, $18.00 per child (ages 2 to 17). Tickets will also be sold at the door for $30.00 for adults and $23.00 for children.
