227-Acre Parkland Acquired in the Heart of Verdugo Mountains
LOS ANGELES COUNTY — To help preserve the County's diverse natural and recreational resources, the County of Los Angeles in collaboration with the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority and the City of Los Angeles, have partnered to acquire 227 acres of prime habitat and hiking trails on the north slope of the Verdugo Mountains, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
Located adjacent to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy's 1,100-acre La Tuna Canyon Park in Sun Valley, this action helps consolidate thousands of acres of open space including parkland owned by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, California State Parks and the cities of Glendale and Los Angeles.
The new parkland was acquired with 5th Supervisorial District Proposition A funds and City of Los Angeles Proposition K funds.
