A downtown Newhall icon since 1972, Moore's submarine sandwich shop — a substandard, asbestos-filled building that had sat vacant for the past two years — was demolished Wednesday to make way for a children's museum or similar structure to attract visitors to a revitalized Old Town Newhall, where city officials also cut the ceremonial ribbon Wednesday to mark the completion of the first phase of roadwork.
